The Mosgiel contingent, townies and a solitary bus passenger from Port met at Maia for a leisurely walk to Port Chalmers on the shared cycle/walkway.

47 keen walkers assembled at Memorial Park and headed into the west to Mahinerangi Rd where the lucky 13th car was waiting and we dropped down to Lee Stream to commence the walk circa 9.30am.

Six km South of Waihola, just past the brick Ewing Phosphate Company Ltd building on the right, we turned right into Phosphate Road, and the end of the road, turned right into Berwick Road and then left into Cullen Road where we parked on the left at the foot of the hill. The Hike down Kuri Bush was abandoned. We drove down to the starting point and then as the rain had become quite heavy we made a decision to to head to the Brighton Cafe instead!
