We headed down Highcliff track with a short stop to admire the view and note our destination far below followed by morning tea at the junction of the track with Buskin track. Suitably refreshed we headed up and up the Buskin track to Highcliff road which we walked along for about 10 minutes and then headed down, down the Paradise track.

All tracks were dry with very little mud noted. Once down to sea level we headed along the flat, over the fence and down to Boulder beach. The track had been extremely overgrown and barely passable so a couple of working bees took place to ensure the comfort of the Wednesday trampers. This was thanks to Pam, Gwenda, Yan, Graeme Souter, John Barret Ross and Wyn. Sorry, if I have missed any names. An idea circulated through the group about the possibility of the ‘town’ members possibly adopt this track and look after it. Discussions are to follow.

Then a sea lion was seen surfing in on the waves.

It waddled up the beach heading for the sand dunes causing many diners to move, ending our lunch break rather hurriedly.

The sealion was just going for a sleep and didn’t bother us at all.

Heading back out from the beach, we passed the bottom of the Paradise track and joined the Highcliff track again on an upward climb back to the cars.
