02/04/2025. Inch Clutha. Grade 2.5. Combined. Leaders: Phil Keene, Graeme Souter, Bruce & Jenny Wright.
“Well it may be a case of third time lucky that we finally made this trip, especially with the help of Graeme’s map. 43 members in 11 cars enjoyed the ‘sunday’ drive to Kaitangata where we met up at the local you know what, before travelling on in convoy up and over that impressive bridge onto the island and around to the pumping station where we all parked up.

The proposed hike for today was to head up the Pineapple track and check out the surrounding area.
19/03/2025. Post Office Creek via Reid Farm. Grade 3.5. Hikers. Leaders: Bruce Spittle and Dave Roberts.
After leaving Peter Johnston Park at 0900, seven cars regrouped and collected more passengers at Traquair Junction before 30 hardy outdoor enthusiasts proceeded in convey about 11 km down Mahinerangi Road to park near the woolshed about 500 m past the entrance to Verterburn Station at Rapid Number 1013. 8.40 and only me in the carpark? I thought everyone had gone with the trampers. Luckily, I managed to scrounge up another 6 plus met up with another 5 in town

19 keen trampers left Mosgiel at 8.30am on a lovely Wednesday morning. It did not take long to reach McHardy Gladbrook Rd near Middlemarch then a short drive to the DOC track.

05/02/2025. Mt Stuart Reserve to Mt Stuart Tunnel (Clutha Gold cycle track). Grade 2.5 and 3 Combined. Leaders: Clare Banks, Barbara Shackell, Sue Beal.
Thirty-seven Hikers and Trampers (plus one driver/reader) gathered at the Mt Stuart Reserve in the Manuka Gorge on a warm and windless day to tackle what, for many, was a new track – part of the Clutha Gold Cycle trail.

The Web notice said, ‘hoping for a leisurely and enjoyable day’s outing in an eclectic spot’, and that’s what 20 hikers & 1 grand-daughter experienced.
29/01/2025. Hope Hill. Grade 4. Trampers. Leaders: John Gardiner and Martin Hickley.
The last club tramp here was almost exactly two years ago and Diane and Marijke’s description is quite excellent, so I’ll not repeat that. Undertaken in ever warming conditions and rising afternoon winds, over exposed farmland, twelve trampers were very glad to get down to the cars some five hours after leaving.
