19 hikers set off on a chilly, crisp morning which provided us with a perfect blue sky and no breeze.

We parked under the Outram bridge. As we walked along the Taieri river it was very cold. however the -5 frost treated us to a glistening show along the pathway.

Once we turned up the hill we ventured out of the shade and we welcomed the  sun! We enjoyed morning tea in its warmth.

We continued up the hill. A few stops along the way to catch our breath and more importantly to admire the view.

The company of curious steers through one of the paddocks was not to everyone’s liking but they did so love our company and came bounding towards us and sang their happy “moo song” to us as they trotted beside us.

Lunch was munched at the trig, where we had a spectacular view of Lake Waihola, Mosgiel, and outlying areas.

We could have stayed longer soaking the sun and view in but… all good things must come to an end so we made our way back down to the cars.

Afternoon tea was enjoyed at Outram.
