Such a lovely fun filled day held by all. We started off with what we thought was 16 walkers, but after morning tea and re counting we had 15, and no we hadn’t lost anyone on the way!

New leading a group over farm land without a track with some up and downs along the way, and help from experienced walkers we made our way through paddocks just above the bush line, looking down on the Taieri river.

After another hour or so walking on the farm road we found our way to the implement barn where we stopped for a relaxed lunch in the sun.

Off to find Weka Falls, down through paddocks that held sheep when we did the recce and now the sheep have been moved to other paddocks which confuses you slightly. Paddocks seem to all look the same! Luckily for sheep tracks that we recognised from our recce, which lead down towards the Weka Falls we were now on our way. The Weka Falls track was well-marked by red tape. Leaving our bags at the bush line before heading down to the Falls. A little steep in places and slippery at the bottom.

Unbeknown to me Jill had thought ahead and brought rope to tie to the trees at the bottom of the hill to help cross the slippery rocks to then view the falls. Perfect.

Such a lovely spot. After a cooling drink we were on our way back up the hill to find our way out to the farm road.

With help from the Farm owner who placed 3 white waratahs to lead our way we were at the top of the hill back on to the farm road leading our way to the cars. Phew we were safely back.

Thanks so much to everyone who joined Jill Reid and Lenore Armstrong today (distance walked was 12.5kms – never the same as somebody else’s!).
