Pulpit Rock

Square 150 trampers30/09/2026. Pulpit Rock. Grade 4. Trampers.  Leaders: Martin and Robyn Hickley.
15 of us set off on the most beautiful day, no wind and a cloud free sky.

The track was muddy in parts with a few steep challenges to keep us from talking.

Along the way we were caught by a family of 3 young children who were so happy to be out in the mountains. Very loud hellos and goodbyes were heard – maybe they thought we were hard of hearing!

We could actually venture onto Pulpit rock itself without fear of being blown off and some amazing photos were taken.

It was lovely to walk in t-shirts and dust off the sunhat from last summer. There were no delays along the way and we were back to the cars at 3pm.

*The Geocashe was at the Pulpit Rock site, on the eastern side of the main rock among some small bushes. It is one of two in close proximity. Apparently there is another one in a small pill bottle, wedged in a crack on Pulpit Rock itself! Jane has been to this location before and found the one pictured straight away, knowing exactly where it was. John
