16/09/2026. Fairfield Circuit (alternative Hike due to rain forecast). Hikers. Leaders: Raewyn Keene and Cathy Ferguson.
With the forecasted weather not looking great 22 hikers meet at Memorial Park. After discussion and a message from Raewyns contact at Harwood it was decided to postpone Harwood, and going to Option 2.

We headed to Sunnyvale Sports Ground, parked and then walked a circuit around Fairfield.

Starting on Main Road to Sunninghurst Drive then up a formed track to main road, crossing to the opposite side. Down to a walkway at rear of what was the Fairfield Tavern. Lots of reminiscing of family occasions at the Fairfield Tavern.

Passed the sign of William Martin a pioneering horticulturalist.

Over past the cafe and onto the formed track built and maintained by Fulton Hogan. This exits near the Fairfield School entrance.
Walked on towards the motorway and left onto another walkway beside the motorway , which leads back into residential area, then out onto main road again and our original start point.

A walk up to Village Green for refreshments and socialise.
Distance walked approx 5 km.
