09/03/2026 to 13/03/2026. Bannockburn Camp 2026 (Day 3) – Bendigo Kanuka Loop Track. Trampers Leaders: Rod Ward and Pam Cocks
Wednesday 11th March 2026
The trampers hit the hills approx. 7kms from loop track car park.

Looking down one could not but notice the change from 2023 where there were only 3 or 4 winery’s to it now covering most of the hill either side of the road. Not only had it changed from the barren waste land it had found water and much of the flatland had turn green.

Rod Ward advised us of where we were going, and as it was very warm that we needed to take on board plenty of water and food to make the top.
19 then hit the hills and it was hottish and Tarras as we knew it. Some ups and downs but the group scrambled up.

Magnificent views from top with a 270 deg. Tarras looking green, Clutha to Cromwell. We picked a spot under a rock for lunch. 2hrs 48mins moving time.

With a couple of hiccups at top that will be left at that, the first stint down was not the easiest,

but the group managed the decent down to the Willow trees which a cooler wind blew through nice for all,

over a style and further 45 mins and all returned back to cars. Tramp was was approx. 5hrs 15min grade 4 moving time getting up to 883 elevation. Thanks Rod and Pam for leading duties.
