After parking on Taioma Rd, our group of 20 trampers set out on an overcast morning which offered good district views.

We headed up the gravel on Taieri View Rd for about for about a kilometer, and then through a gate onto Taieri View Farm owned by Jill Reid’s son Andrew.

We continued tramping to the end of the farm enjoying magnificent 360 degree views, forestry to the north, west towards the Taieri River and Outram, and South East towards Mosgiel and over the Taieri Plain to Saddle Hill.

On the way back we headed down the lower part of the farm, walking past a large copse of trees then through a gully and a large paddock before negotiating a tricky gate

After lunch we crossed a ravine following cattle tracks,

climbed over a fence and tramped across the paddock and over a dammed creek to the black sheds and cattle yards.

Jill showed us the planned site for Andrew and Anna’s new home and the glamping hut which both had spectacular views over the Taieri Plain. After this we followed the gravel farm road back to cars.

Lovely mild temperatures with little wind made a great day for tramping. We covered 12 kilometres in all.
