4 hikers made the decision not to attempt the full length of the Grahams Bush track

However we walked with the other hikers well up into the bush enjoying the beauty and bird song .
After morning tea we retraced our steps back to Sawyers Bay to the vehicle. Curiosity had the better of us to investigate Ken’s Lane off Hall Rd where there were 11 mailboxes lined up at the entrance to the concrete sealed drive.

It was an up n down journey through a new sub division of what looked like life style blocks beautifully appointed and north facing.

We were so lucky with the day the sun out and no wind (by mid morning) something pretty unusual for Port Chalmers. Here we drove up to the Observation point overlooking the port, harbour, and surroundings right out to Taiaroa Heads pretty special spot to enjoy lunch.

We still had another walk -round the back beach of Port Chalmers -The road had very recently been re graded and pot hole free so made walking very enjoyable .The tide was high but we could still see the rock boat under water as it was so calm.

The logging storage area was very busy shifting logs around in prep for exporting! .
In total we walked approx 10 kms and felt we deserved our coffee at Santosa in Port Chalmers.
