We parked Bill’s car on the south side of the Ferry bridge, walking back over it to begin the track. The five of us explored the it as far as Doug and Ian had cleared the (mostly) broom-encroaching branches, reaching a willow-tree surrounded picnic area for morning tea. We examined the further original track markings with the help of LINZ maps to where it links up with the Otokia-Kuri Bush Road East. However, any further progress would have entailed much more track clearing than could be managed this time round. We balanced the day taking the Millennium to John Bull Gully.

On the drive down and back we stopped the car from time to time to easily follow from across the river the line of the track through broom and gorse, and then from Wardells house we could trace where it would climb to join the Kuri Bush Road at the top. – Ian

car distance: 50km ret. to Wardells house.
