Annual Report 2000-2001

I is my pleasure to present to you the 14th annual report of the Taieri Recreational Tramping Club.
Throughout 2000-2001 we have had some very enjoyable Wednesday tramps with the weather being particularly kind, resulting in only one cancellation.

With financial membership standing at 76 & 1 Life member, I have no explanation as membership is healthy.
We welcome Wendy Johnston and hope she will have many happy days tramping and enjoying events with the club.
Two members have resigned, Pam Hart and Marion Jones.
We have had nine months starting in:
OCTOBER When 43 members enjoyed a bus trip to Clyde and walking back to Alexandra.
NOVEMBER 24 members enjoyed summer weather at Naseby camp.
DECEMBER Our Christmas Social at Kades Restaurant was enjoyed by all and 34 trampers were present at our Xmas tramp in Berwick Forest.
JANUARY We received from Mosgiel Tavern a donation from Pub Charity of $2000 to assist with bus hire.
FEBRUARY Our trip to Arthurs Pass, Westport & Hanmer Springs which 34 members tramped socialised and enjoyed 12 days travelling.
MARCH Betty Bryce, Dot Taiaroa, Chris Hughes and Ria Lippers walked 150km from Clyde to Middlemarch in 7 Days via the Rail Trail. Congratulations to you all.
APRIL/May A camp at Alexandra in all its autumn spendour was enjoyed by 27 members.
JUNE 46 enjoyed a midwinter lunch at the Shiel Hill Tavern which it was good to see so many non-trampers present at.
I would like to thank Bill Hunt for offering to help me set up the programme, Bob Heenan, George Haggie for doing a good job which is not easy.
It is nice to have Don Hunter back after his illness and hope his recovery continues to be positive. Daphne McEwan, Ray Wiggins, it’s lovely to see you both back after your ops.
A special thanks to the men and women who helped Bill Hunt with track clearing of Post Office Creek, Government Track, Waipori & 3 Kings. We will all appreciate it when next time we tramp there.
I would like to thank the committee and members who have always made themselves available to organise all the events for the club. A four committee members are standing down I would like on your behalf to thank them.

LES WIFFEN, for taking roll call every Wednesday, organising car rides plus, after a lot of hard work, publicity of our bus trip in WALKING NEW ZEALAND.
