26/03/2025. St Kilda / Tomahawk Beach. Grade 1.5 Hikers. Leaders: Wendy Langley and Val Cayford.
The proposed hike for today was to head up the Pineapple track and check out the surrounding area.
This hike really did develop into, “a series of unfortunate events”, that concluded with the track being closed. At the very last minute we had to come up with another plan.
However, all was not lost, and as the saying goes –
”After a storm, the sun comes out”.
In absolutely perfect weather, 18 of us set off along John Wilson Ocean Drive. Not just soaking up the sun’s rays but also the long stretch of white sand and the rolling waves of St Kilda Beach.

After morning tea we skirted the edges of the Chisholm Links Golf course. Fortunately no, “fore” needed to be yelled out!!

Onward along Tomahawk Beach to Lawyers Head.

Lunch was enjoyed at the Tomahawk Lagoon, along with the ducks and swans. Very tranquil atmosphere, enjoyed by all.

We back tracked via the golf course, across Pirates rugby fields to the cars.

We welcomed afternoon tea at Nicholls.

Back to the saying – the sun did shine, but not just literally! Everyone came together and shared their knowledge of the area, and helped make the hike a wonderful experience. A real team effort. Thanks to all, it was 11 kms of combined enjoyment.
Wendy.
