Taieri Mouth Millenium Track

Millenium Square23/04/2025. Taieri Mouth/Millenium Track. Grade 3. Hikers.  Leaders: Linda Partridge & Bill Cubitt.
On a cool but fine morning 18 hikers gathered at Riverside Rd, Taieri Mouth near the entrance to the track for a lovely walk through the bush to the lookout.

We started our hike along the track and crossed a couple of boardwalks before stopping for our morning tea at a lovely spot where we were able to have a catchup and admire the scenery.

Onwards and upwards we made our way up the track enjoying the magnificent tree ferns and native bush. The track was a bit slippery in places after some rain in recent days, so our walking poles proved very
handy, as we negotiated the ups and downs of the track.

We stopped at one point and at Jenny Flacks great suggestion we halted the chatter for a minute so we could enjoy the birdsong, it was so lovely.

About 11.45 we arrived at the very welcome lookout, where we stopped for an early lunch and to admire the lovely views of the river and beyond.

After lunch it looked like we might get some rain, so we headed back down the track taking extra care on the slippery path. The sun was shining when we arrived back at the cars about 1.30.

The 7km walk of ups and downs was enjoyed by all.Time to remove the muddy boots and head off to the Brighton Cafe for a cuppa and chat where we were joined by Alex and Liz Griffin who have recently returned
home from their trip To Bali.

Thanks to Bill Cubitt for filling in for Janette
Linda.
