Minutes, Taieri Recreational Tramping Group, 4/2/1988

Minutes of the first meeting of the Taieri Recreational Tramping Group.
28 members of the Taieri Recreational Tramping Group met on the 4th February, 1988 at Mrs D Pearce’s residence at 65 Forfar Street, Mosgiel to decide the future of the Group and the possibility of changing the Group to a Club. Daphne McEwan chaired the meeting.

Apologies were received from Molly Vaughan, Olga Corlett, Mary Bowden, Ria Lippers, Doug Kerser, Jack and Jean Merrilees and Ali Mulder.
Open discussion took place on points of leadership and the eligibility of outside Taieri residents becoming members.
The advantages of the Group being formed into a Club were pointed out to members by Mr D Morton, whereupon Mr K de Jong proposed that the Group be formed into a Club. This was seconded by George Haggie. After further discussion the motion was put to the voted and passed and carried.
Mrs M Hugget suggested that a committee of six members be formed whereupon Mr D Morton proposed that a steering committee be set up. This was seconded by Mrs J Waugh, passed and carried.
The six members of the steering committee were then elected.

George Haggie, proposed by Ria de Jong, seconded by Elizabeth Gamperle.
Mary Young, proposed by Rose Harper, seconded by George Haggie.
David Morton, proposed by Winnie Gibson, seconded by Peg Allison.
Bob Heenan, proposed by Jean Young, seconded by Wnnie Gibson.
June Waugh, proposed by Peg Allison, seconded by Denise Pearce.
At this point the meeting was closed after Mrs D Pearce was thanked for her hospitality.
